Recreation and Park Space

In the past 6 years between my time on the Planning Commission and City Council, I have advocated for park and recreational space equity for access to these important spaces across the city. Some of my highlights:

  • Advocated for keeping the Cupertino Sports Center and not tearing it down for a Housing Development potentially putting the tennis courts on the roof.

  • Supported the pond repurposing at Memorial Park, which has allowed for more space for popular festivals.

  • Advocated for deciding to fix the irrigation at Blackberry Farm Golf Course (rather than closing it and converting to natural). This provides a continuation of this sport with the opportunity to reduce water use

  • Supported Jollyman’s Inclusive playground and advocated for all-inclusive elements to come to every park to ensure our children all have a welcoming play area . You may read more about this park here.

  • Supported the Lawrence Mitty park project. The park land has been purchased, annexed, and plans are finalizing for this newest park addition which will one day help connect the Saratoga Creek Trail along Lawrence Expressway to the north. You may read about this park here.

  • Advocated for the city to take up the Stocklmeier House topic near the Blue Pheasant to have public discussions regarding its future and it is agendized. I have worked on this for 4 years to bring it to Council.

  • Advocated for stabilizing the Cupertino Historical Society’s annual funding from the city and finally formalize the agreement for use of the Quinlan Center for the museum, demonstrating our commitment to preserving our history and educational outreach to the community.

  • Supported the softball players when they were in danger of losing the Memorial Park field.

Supporting Recreation and Park space is important for everyone’s good health!
