Westport Approval = Senior Housing
Updated October 29, 2020 showing image of the original February 2, 2016 Oaks plan. Previous Update September 5, 2020 to feature the changes made to the project, video link to the actual public hearing comments by Vice Mayor Paul, and analysis by Mayor Scharf.
Cupertino City Council on August 19, 2020 approved 294 new residential units! These include specialized Senior Memory Care units, housing which can support families with students, and below market rate units for Seniors. The project went through several iterations whittling it down from a massive mixed use project to an intriguing blend of housing and retail which has a surplus of residential units relative to the number of jobs generated (40 new jobs).
The Westport project brings needed Senior market rate and Below Market rate units along with 27 Senior memory care units for seniors with memory deficits and for sale townhouses and rowhouses with supporting retail.
The project specifically includes: 267 units (not including the 27 memory care units which do not have kitchens), comprised of 88 for sale townhouses and rowhouses, 48 Senior Below Market Rate units, 131 Senior Apartments (up to 2 bedroom), and 20,000 square feet of commercial space.
Analysis of the project by Mayor Scharf is provided here:
Great job!
